Kimbo Slice...enough said

Heavyweights: Kimbo Slice (3-0) def. James Thompson (16-9)

How: TKO, 0:48 round three

Key moment: Kimbo made his first punch of the third round count, a wild haymaker that opened a horrible cut on Thompson’s left ear.

Kimbo Slice is 3-0 in his "Young Career". Yes we all have seen the internet sensation beat people up in the streets of Miami and all over, but watching his fight last night, I was kind of impressed. Kimbo was able to escape from different holds throughout the night showing versatility . He was also able to prove he had a glass jaw and could take blows to the face, while maintaining focus.

A Yahoo Analysis said: Kimbo came out victorious but sure showed he has a long way to go before he can be considered a real heavyweight threat. Kimbo struggled through much of the first round, getting put onto the mat several times, but demonstrated some skill in getting back to his feet. Kimbo wobbled Thompson with a couple uppercuts in the second, but later found himself on the wrong end of a series of elbows on the ground. In the third, Kimbo connected on a home run of a punch that cut Thompson open. He then followed up with a punishing exchange. The crowd was not happy the fight was stopped, but Thompson was wobbling and was clearly a punch or two away from being put out.

Lebron needs someone like a Scottie Pippen

The game of basketball seems so easy, but if you ask Lebron James he might say different. What I saw on Sunday was a man who thought he could put his team on his shoulders and advance past the best team in the NBA. Anyone who watched the game thought he had a good chance, but when your supporting cast doesn’t show up to play, everything becomes more difficult.

Lebron is obviously a premier star in the NBA, but he really needs helps. Look at the Box score from Game 7 against Boston Celtics in the semi finals. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore?gid=2008051802

What Lebron needs is a sidekick who will compliment his athletic play, but will follow his leadership. Shaq had Kobe, Jordan had Pippen, Malone had Stockton, Duncan has Tony and Manu and Chauncey, has Rasheed, Rip, and Tayshaun, and KG, Pierce, and Ray all compliment each other. Lebron has Z, Delonte, a washed up Ben Wallace and Wally.

Maybe last year was a fluke when Cleveland beat Detroit to make it to the NBA Finals. I say that because the trade in February definitely did nothing but make that team worse.I still believe a couple of years ago the Cavs should of pursued Michael Redd when he was a free agent instead of Larry Hughes, but that’s just my opinion. They had opportunities to land Mike Bibby and JKidd but failed to do both. When frustration begins to build, athletes start to find ways to make things happen to better the team, or look for ways out. Just ask Kobe Bryant.

I hope Cleveland doesn’t lose Lebron. That will devastate the entire state of Ohio. Imagine this, Lebron in New York, Miami, Orlando, or Phoenix. Damn that would instantly turn each team into a strong contender. Only the future awaits, I’m not a Cavs fan, but hopefully they make some major adjustments.

Now What?

66-16, 35-6 at home, 31-10 on the road. 0-6 on the road in the playoffs! For the best team in basketball I would say this is a big issue. Plus with the Pistons stealing a game in Boston last night, you would think the series is over. But I wouldn't say that quite yet. Yes, Ray Allen is struggling, but seems have to come out of his slump, and yes the bench isn't really producing like expected, but when you have two of the best players in the league with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, the future can only look bright (BTW the future is now). Both have been here before (Garnett with the TWolves back in the 2004 Western Conference Finals), so who is to say the series is over.

Mr. Big Shot is back and seems to be about 85%, Rip and Rasheed are doing what they do best. Tyshaun and McDyess seem to be focused on the goal. Plus with Stuckey really is proving he is indeed the future the Pistons. They have a good shot at taking the series. The Pistons bench should outplay Bostons for the rest of the series, which means major minutes for the Big 3 and Rondo

But, I'm still confused about the addition of Sam Cassell and PJ Brown. Cassell isn't seeing mintues, probably because of the play of Eddie House. But you know what...I see this series going to game 7 with Boston pulling it out. The Pistons are a solid team, but there is something about them that gives me the idea they aren't as focused as years past. Lakers vs Boston in the finals, thats my prediction. Like the 80's.
